| World debut | 2008 Geneva Motor Show | BMW M3 Convertible |
The BMW M3 range was rounded out by the arrival of the Convertible at the
Geneva motor show. With the same retracting hard top as other
3 Series drop-tops, the M3 gains 135kg compared to the
M3 Coupé.
Despite the extra weight, the M3 Convertible still dashes from 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds and has a top speed of 155mph. It will be the first of the M3 range to be offered with the optional M Double Clutch Transmission, which is a seven-speed sequential manual that will be a £2,500 option. This gearbox will be offered in the other M3 models before the end of 2008.
With the same engine and suspension as the M3 Coupé and the Convertible’s retracting hard-top and air conditioning that automatically adjusts to the outside temperature, the M3 drop-top is much as expected. It should cost around £55,000 when it goes on sale in the UK early this summer.
