We remember the
MG ZR Express fondly, a hot hatch masquerading as a commercial vehicle for businesses requiring a sporty image or for business owners that want style and practicality, but not at the expense of driving enjoyment. Since the demise of MG Rover there has been precious little choice for such a buyer; until now.
The Ford Fiesta SportVan was launched at the 2006 Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham and it follows keenly in the ZR's skid marks. Sporting a body kit and wheels not too far removed from the
Fiesta ST, the SportVan is available with or without windows, depending on market, and in a choice of red, black, silver or white.
Inside, the sporty theme continues with the standard fitment of sports seats and leather wrapping for the steering wheel and gear knob.
When the Fiesta SportVan goes on sale later this year the only engine option will be a 1.6-litre turbodiesel with 89bhp and 150lb.ft of torque, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Don't expect hot hatch performance, though the Fiesta should still be quite a fun little van.
