What's this then?
This is the Mazda Koeru concept, and it could be a pointer towards a coupé-like variant of the CX-5 SUV, possibly to be badged CX-4. Well, that's the rumour at the Frankfurt Motor Show anyway.
The Koeru certainly takes a big dose of inspiration from the current CX-5 at any rate, and is more or less the same overall size, but a bit lower and a bit sleeker. Mazda is saying that it has outstanding aerodynamics, and while it's not giving any details on powertrain or chassis, it shares the same wheelbase as a CX-5 and Mazda says it has similar SkyActiv technology to help keep fuel consumption down.
Mazda's also brought along a specced-up MX-5 to the show, with a bundle of accessories including 17-inch alloys and a lightweight carbon luggage rack that sits on top of the boot.
