What's all this about?
It never ceases to amaze us how quickly tuning firms can turn around their own version of a production car that has only just been launched. Here, German upgrade house ABT Sportsline has already shown off its modified third-generation Audi TT at the Essen Motor Show.
Ooh, is it faster than standard?
Yes, it's based on the 230hp 2.0 TFSI model, but ABT's performance mods take the engine to a TTS-rivalling 310hp, while torque surpasses that car's 380Nm, going from a standard 370- to 440Nm. ABT is as yet being coy about how much this enhances the TT's performance by: "looks fast and is fast, too," is how CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt summarises his company's creation.
What has been done to the exterior?
A body kit all round, with particularly muscular front and rear skirts (the latter incorporating quad tailpipes), and where the standard car has a retractable spoiler, the ABT TT has a fixed wing. ABT has also fitted 20-inch black DR alloy wheels with Continental tyres, although other rim designs, sizes and finishes are available.
