The Citadel, although modern and stylish, does not pave the way for exciting car-design. What it does do is showcase the future of the car. Chrysler tagged this a hybrid-hybrid. The powertrain features a V6 engine feeding its power (250bhp - I like the future already)to the rear. This is supplemented by an electric motor at the front wheels, capable of providing up to 70bhp more - a very fuel efficient package, with the bonus of 4 wheel drive. The only disadvantage I see is the inherent weight penalty. No doubt Chrysler engineers are working on at right now.

Witness above the PT Cruiser. A wacky concept, born of the '50s hot rod street racers, right? Wrong. This is the future of Chrysler. PT stands for Personal Transportation, and that is what it does - very successfully. The car you see before you is shorter than the Focus, yet has as much room as a full-size American saloon. The Cruiser is based on the facelifted Chrysler Neon and will use large capacity petrol and diesel engines. Yes, that's right, it is going into production - in 2001, in Mexico - the production site of the other modern-throwback, the VW Beetle.
