Despite not actually winning a single race in 2005, the Ferrari F1 team, heavily influenced by Michael Schumacher, has been dominant over the past five seasons. Cashing in on this success is the naffly named, but actually quite appealing Fiat Stilo Schumacher limited edition.
A Schumacher edition Stilo was first shown as far back as the
2004 Paris Show, but Fiat UK has gone to the trouble of developing its own version, dubbed the Stilo Schumacher GP, which it will sell alongside the factory car. Both versions are based on the 3-door Stilo 2.4 20v, putting out 170bhp. The standard car features a bespoke bodykit, kick plates and pedals; an upgraded stereo with steering wheel controls; various Schumacher logos and a numbered plaque.
The GP version is specified as an "aftermarket handling package", and it looks to be conspicuously good value-for-money. Fiat handed the development of this kit to Prodrive, so we would expect good things from it. New parts include front and rear Eibach springs, new Bilstein dampers, tasty 18-inch OZ Superturismo alloys shod with 215/40 ZR18 Continental Contisport Contact 2 tyres and a stainless steel rear silencer with twin outlet pipes for good measure.
It's up to you what you think of the exhaust (a little too OTT for our liking), but the significant chassis changes should be worthwhile, lowering the car visually as well as tautening up responses; hopefully not at the expense of the Stilo's suppleness (

Ferrari red is the only colour available for the Stilo Schumacher as it goes on sale this weekend (May 7th). List price for the basic version is £15,995, but you'd be a fool not to pay the extra £1,000 for the GP upgrade. Saying that, although you are paying for individuality (only 200 right-hand drive cars are being produced for the UK market), you could buy a
Honda Civic Type-R for the same money. I know which car Michael would prefer to drive...
