Later this summer, Volkswagen will offer the Golf Plus Dune, a new 'all-road' variation of the Golf Plus. The new Dune model takes styling cues from its smaller
Polo Dune sibling, featuring a raised ride height, revised exterior styling and additional standard equipment.
Various matt 'blistered' plastic cladding items have been added to the Golf Plus Dune's exterior panels, a set of fog lamps has been fitted to the corners of its recessed air dam and a silver coloured section added to its rear bumper. Revised springs and dampers raise the ride height by 20mm to improve ground clearance should you need to venture off road, but the BBS 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 225/45 R17 tyres might have a hard time tackling unforgiving terrain. The car will only be available in one of three colours: Ice Silver, metallic Steel Grey or a 'pearl effect' Blue Graphite.
The Golf Plus Dune is powered by the same 1.9-litre TDI engine available in the regular model, developing 104bhp and 184lb.ft of torque. Though not a particularly brilliant performer - the Dune will reach 62mph in 12.1 seconds and a top speed of 121mph - it is capable of returning a Combined Cycle fuel economy figure of 50.4mpg while emitting only 148 g/km of CO
2.
Additional equipment has also been fitted to the Golf Plus Dune's cabin, including unique interior trim, a leather steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake. A semi-automatic air conditioning system, automatic driving lights and windscreen wipers, electric front and rear windows, a multi-function computer and a CD stereo system are also standard kit. And like all Golf Plus models, the Dune also features six airbags, ABS and ESP.
The Golf Plus Dune will retail from £18,495 on-the-road and is available to order from Volkswagen UK retailers now. But you'd better hurry if you want one, as production is limited to just 400 vehicles.
