This is the Citroen C5 Aircross Hybrid Concept, but you can forget about that last bit of the model's name - you're looking at one of the PSA Group's first plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, due here in early 2020. It will be shown at the Paris Motor Show in October and is based on the C5 Aircross, a mid-sized SUV that has been launched in China already and which is coming to Europe. While conventional versions of the C5 Aircross will use turbocharged petrol and diesel engines of between 130- and 180hp, the Hybrid Concept pairs a 180hp PureTech petrol engine with an 80kW (109hp) electric motor, driving the wheels through an e-EAT8 eight-speed automatic transmission. The peak output is 225hp and the Aircross PHEV is capable of 31 miles on electric power alone, while it also features the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions (PHC) suspension and Advanced Comfort seats that Citroen is making its current hallmark.
