Aston Martin, in association with EON Productions and special effects advisor Chris Corbould, is going to build 25 examples of the legendary Silver Birch DB5, as first seen in the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger. Retailing at £2.75 million each, plus taxes, the cars will be reproductions of BMT 216A, including some of the gadgets like the revolving number plates, but they will also be 'sympathetically modified' to cope with the demands of modern motoring. Once the original 25 'Goldfinger Continuation' series cars are built and delivered to the lucky few customers, who should see their cars in late 2019 or early 2020, then another three DB5s will be constructed: one for Aston Martin, one for EON Productions (the company behind the Bond franchise) and then one that will be auctioned off for charity. Andy Palmer, president and CEO of Aston Martin, said: "The connection between Aston Martin and James Bond is something of which we are very proud and it is remarkable that the DB5 remains the definitive James Bond car after so many years."
