The oldest model in the Audi line-up, the first-generation Q3 SUV, has finally been put out to pasture, to be replaced by a larger and far more sophisticated successor. The new Q3 is 97mm longer, 18mm wider and actually 5mm lower than the original. The rear seats slide and their backrests tilt, as standard, along with splitting 40:20:40, opening into a 530-1,525-litre boot with a powered tailgate on all versions. Audi Virtual Cockpit and MMI touch display are standard for the launch models. Sport and S line variants have been confirmed, along with three TFSI petrol and two TDI diesel engines. There’ll be a mix of manual and S tronic automatic transmissions, plus front-wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive depending on engine. Orders open in the UK this autumn with first customer deliveries expected before the end of 2018.
