The 2004 Geneva Motor Show
The 2004 Geneva Motor Show (the official title is "74th International Motor Show, Palexpo-Geneva") runs from March 4th to March 14th. The reveals start on March 2nd, which is one of the press-only days. We will bring you photographs of all the concepts and new car debuts as the information comes to hand. Here's a list of the interesting cars we know will be at the show:
- New Alfa Romeo 156 Crosswagon - Alfa's first crossover vehicle, which is essentially a raised, and four-wheel drive version of the stylish 156 Sportwagon.
- We expect to see the new Zagato-designed Aston Martin Vanquish Roadster in Geneva.
- New-look Audi A6 - The A6 has been significantly updated. It looks unquestionably as an Audi should, but we are not fans of the new imposing grille.
- All-new BMW 5-series Touring - As scooped by us months ago...
- Daewoo's new Nubira Station Wagon debuts in Geneva, looking like an alternative to the Ford Focus Estate.
- European debut of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti V12 four-seat coupe.
- Ferrari has also promised us that there is significant news on the development of the 575M Maranello to be announced.
- Cute new Fiat Trepiuno concept car - Owing much of its design to the '60s baby Fiats, the Trepiuno hopefully shows us what a new sub-Panda Fiat could look like.
- The facelifted Fiat Multipla will also be in Geneva, as will the 2004 model year Stilo, which has received a freshening across the range.
- Hyundai's Tucson SUV gets its first airing in Europe.
- Though not currently applicable to the UK market, Lancia will be showing the Musa compact MPV, which is a more luxurious and sporty version of Fiat's Idea.
- Maserati Coupe GranSport - world debut of a significant, edgier development of the Coupe according to the Italian marque.
- Maserati will also reveal the MC 12, which is the new name for the 25 road going examples of the Maserati Corse Competizione (MCC) race car.
- As Ford's sporty Japanese brand, where would Mazda be without a sporty compact MPV? Enter the MX Flexa concept.
- Mercedes-Benz reveal two significant new production cars - the SLK and the radical new CLS-class. The C-class has also been revamped.
- Riding on a crest of sales success, MINI will show the new Convertible in Geneva.
- Mitsubishi's slick new Colt will be on display for the first time in Europe.
- Not wanting to miss out on the trend, Nissan will show a crossover concept, named the Qashqai.
- The Wind concept from Renault is the first open-topped sportscar from the French manufacturer since the superb Spider. It could well be produced by Renaultsport.
- Subaru pander further to the enthusiastic driver, with the showing of a Legacy Spec B 3.0R prototype, no doubt assessing public demand.
- Vauxhall's European counterpart Opel, will reveal the clever little Trixx concept city car.
- Closer to home, the new Vauxhall Tigra will be shown for the first time in public.
Image galleries, news and reviews will be added as we have the content ready. If you think we've missed anything, let us know.
