What's the news?
The Land Rover Discovery is celebrating its 25th anniversary, to celebrate there is a XXV (that's 25 in Roman Numerals in case you missed that class...) special edition. Based on the HSE Luxury specification the XXV gets a special exterior and interior colour scheme.
Causeway Grey is the main body colour with Narvik Black used for the grille surrounds and door mirror caps. The centre of the grille and the vents in the front wings are finished in 'Dark Atlas'. If that isn't enough there are also full-length silver roof rails and a stainless steel tread plate for the rear bumper.
Inside there is leather on the fascia, door top rolls and instrument binnacle, with a unique colour scheme called Cirrus. Land Rover has embossed the XXV logo throughout the interior and there are also twist pile carpet mats.
There is no word on how much the Discovery XXV special edition will cost but the HSE Luxury will set you back £59,450 and it seems reasonable to expect the celebratory model will cost a similar amount.
Anything else?
Since its launch, over one million Discoverys have been built, with a few examples going on to make remarkable journeys. An original Land Rover Discovery was used by Sir Ranulph Fiennes on his expedition to discover the Lost City of Ubar, while a Discovery 3 was used on the record holding London to Cape Town drive in 2013.
