What's the news?
Chinese car brand Qoros has unveiled its next model, officially known as 'Qoros 3 Hatch'. As the name suggests it is a hatchback version of the Qoros 3 saloon, aimed at young families and people with 'active lifestyles' who appreciate the versatility of a five-door body. The Hatch will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show on 4th March.
Exterior
From the C-pillar back the body is new and 177mm shorter than the saloon; there is a new rear roof cross-member to maintain torsional rigidity. Styling changes aren't limited to a new back end; the grille, front bumper and fog lamps are also new. The easiest way to tell saloon from hatchback in your rear-view mirror is that the latter comes with circular as opposed to squared-off fog lamps.
Interior
There are new materials and colour options for the hatchback but the key ergonomic features and equipment levels are identical to the saloon. That includes the eight-inch touch screen and a suite of free-for-life services with 3G connectivity on most models.
Mechanicals
Engines are identical to those fitted to the saloon, which means naturally aspirated and turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol units. Customers can choose between manual or dual-clutch automatic transmissions, both of which some with six speeds.
Anything else?
Qoros hasn't said anything about European sales or prices but apparently there are no plans to build either the saloon or hatchback with right-hand drive at this stage.
