What's the news?
MG has managed to improve both CO2 emissions and fuel economy in the diesel-powered MG6 GT and MG6 Magnette without hampering the cars' performance.
The latest version of the 1.9-litre DTI-TECH engine has had its combined fuel economy figure improved from 53.5- to 57.6mpg, while at the same time producing 129g/km of CO2 - a seven per cent improvement over the outgoing version. These new results are great news for company car users, as the MG6 drops to the 20 per cent BIK band. VED is also reduced from Band E to Band D.
Despite the greener figures the 1.9-litre unit has not suffered any power loss; as the cleaner performance comes from the use of regenerative braking technology and an advanced stop-start system. This means that output remains at 150hp and 350Nm of torque; resulting in a 0-62mph time of a respectable 8.9 seconds.
Anything else?
The new engines are available in the MG6 range now, with prices starting from £16,995.
