What's the news?
German tuner, Hamann, has gotten its hands on the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé - following on from the standard 6 Series Coupé package unveiled last month. Whilst the two models share similar modifications, there are some subtle differences.
Exterior
In true Hamann form, the body kit fitted to the Gran Coupé is not just cosmetic; it's claimed to be aerodynamically efficient too. The new front bumper includes two lower grilles containing a row of LED daytime lights and a carbon-fibre bonnet has also been fitted. Round the back there's a new rear bumper/diffuser combo, quad-exit exhausts, a new boot lid and a spoiler. Extended side skirts complete the body kit. Alloy wheels come in 21-inch diameter only, with the 'Anniversary Evo Hyper Black' rims recommended. A sports suspension kit also drops the ride height by a substantial 30mm.
Interior
Hamann says that there is a long list of modification possibilities for the cabin of the 6 Series Gran Coupé. Buyers can make a luxurious interior featuring swathes of wood and leather; a racier cabin by specifying Alcantara, aluminium pedals and the like; or a combination of both. Hamann will even create bespoke floor mats to give a truly unique feel inside.
Mechanicals
Hamann offers no powertrain or performance modifications in its package, so we'd recommend the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 found in the standard 650i. This engine will rocket the Hamann 6 Series Gran Coupé from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds thanks to a 450hp output; and should sound fairly throaty through the car's quad exhausts.
Anything else?
No pricing details have been announced for the Hamann package; although a substantial premium is expected over the standard version. Order books are open now.
