What's the news?
Toyota has released more information surrounding its latest Verso model. Based on the new Auris, the Verso is due to UK markets early next year.
Exterior
The new Verso has been styled with Toyota's latest design language; seen on both the new Auris and the recently revealed RAV4. The front sees a sharper headlight design combined with a long, narrow front grille and large lower opening.
Three levels of trim are available on launch with base-level Active models getting front fog lamps and a rear spoiler as standard. Moving up to Icon spec adds rear privacy glass and 16-inch alloy wheels, while top of the range Excel versions get roof rails and 17-inch alloys.
Interior
All Versos come with a newly designed interior featuring air conditioning and Toyota's Easy Flat seat folding system on seven-seat models. Mid-level Icon versions get cruise control, dual-zone climate control, a rear-view camera and a DAB radio; while Excel models include part-leather upholstery, keyless entry and start, alongside auto lights and wipers.
Icon and Excel models can also be specified with Toyota's Touch & Go satnav system and a panoramic sunroof.
Mechanicals
The engines have largely been carried over from the previous Verso; with the entry-level car featuring a 1.6-litre petrol engine hooked up to a six-speed manual gearbox. The popular 2.0 D-4D diesel unit has been adjusted though, now offering more torque lower down the rev range and producing less than 130g/km of CO2.
ESC, VSC and Hill Start Control have all been included as standard safety features.
Anything else?
The new Toyota Verso will go on sale priced from £17,495. Order books are open now, with first deliveries expected mid-January.
