What's the news?
Lexus has introduced a new top-spec Advance model to its CT 200h range offering buyers higher levels of equipment than the SE range topper, but at only a slightly inflated price.
Exterior
Nothing too dramatic has changed for the Advance version's appearance. Metallic paint is now a standard feature, as is the inclusion of 17-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and fog lamps carried over from the SE model. Optional equipment includes front and rear parking sensors; while smaller 16-inch alloy wheels can be had at no extra cost.
Interior
Interior goodies are in abundance in the new top-spec CT. The dual-zone climate control, push button start and Bluetooth are all carried over from the SE; with automatic wipers, electric folding mirrors, a reversing camera and an all-new integrated satnav system added to the mix.
The CT 200h Advance also sees the introduction of Tahara seat trim. An alternative to leather, the new material weighs about half as much as leather, and is considerably less harmful to the environment to produce.
Mechanicals
As the car's name may suggest, power comes from Lexus' Hybrid Drive system. This gives an emissions figure of 94g/km - qualifying it for free road tax - and 68.9mpg on the combined cycle. The system has three selectable modes to suit the driver: EV, Eco and Sport. Lexus claims that in EV mode, the CT 200h will travel up to 1.2 miles on electric power alone.
Anything else?
Despite having substantially higher equipment levels than the SE, the Advance version comes with a very modest £500 premium at £24,495. Order books are open now, and although we don't have an official date Lexus promises that first deliveries will take place before the end of the year.
