What's the news?
BMW has released details of a special edition 7 Series model, commemorating 25 years of the company's flagship V12 engine. Named the 760Li: V12 25-Years Anniversary Edition; this limited production model is only available in the US, and sports even more luxurious items than the standard top-spec 7 Series.
Exterior
From the outside, you'd be relatively hard pushed to spot this particular version. The car comes equipped with BMW's Shadowline trim as standard, along with 20-inch Individual style 301 alloy-wheels replacing the standard rims. All other exterior features remain the same, available with BMW's full palette of paint finishes.
Interior
As opposed to the outside, you immediately know this is a special edition when you open the door. "V-12 25 Years Edition" badges are everywhere from the headrests to the iDrive controller. A colour combination of Champagne seats and headlining are contrasted by Piano Black Wood trim on the dashboard, black floor mats with Champagne stitching and black leather on the pillars. Backseat passengers get an entertainment system featuring large screens on the back of the front seats and their own iDrive controller on the armrest. The bespoke rear parcel shelf is coated in Anthracite Alcantara.
Mechanicals
As this car is marking 25 years of BMW's V12 engine, naturally it's a 12-cylinder unit under the bonnet. The 6.0-litre Twin Turbo engine develops 535hp and 745Nm of torque and can launch this sizeable saloon from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds; and onto a limited top speed of 155mph for models equipped with the M Sport Package.
Anything else?
Despite BMW only making 15 of these (and they're all in the US), another factor may limit those who can actually have one - the price. This special order only car comes in at $159,695, including delivery and handling fees, which equates to about £100,000. First deliveries are expected to take place early 2013 and apparently they're all sold out.
