A study of new car depreciation by Auto Express magazine has declared the Porsche 911 Carrera as the slowest depreciating car on sale.
Data on over 40,000 new models and prices was gathered by industry experts CAP and analysed by Auto Express. The best cars retain at least 50% of their value over three years/30,000 miles from new. At the top of the chart the 911 Carrera Cabriolet has a 'future trade value' 55.3% of its new price.
Joining the Carrera in the Top Ten slowest depreciating cars is the Porsche Boxster, which is forecast to retain 51.9% of its value over three years.
Porsche attributes the strong residual value of its cars to the company's flat-six engines and driving dynamics. Durability was also cited as a factor; the company claims that two thirds of all the cars it has ever made are still on the road.
