What's the news?
Skoda has launched two new limited edition versions of its Octavia model; both of which come with attractive money saving offers. The editions released are dubbed the Octavia SE Connect and Octavia vRS Blackline.
Exterior
The SE Connect, available in both hatchback and estate guises, is based on the existing SE model, but adds 16-inch 'Crateris' alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and metallic paint to the standard equipment list. The vRS Blackline has black 18-inch alloy wheels and rear parking sensors over the standard vRS model; and is on sale in Candy White, Race Blue metallic or Black Magic pearl effect paint finishes.
Interior
Skoda has added, as you may expect, more connectivity devices to the SE Connect over the SE version. The car comes with GSM II telephone preparation and Skoda's mobile device interface (MDI) as standard; and the dials now feature a Maxidot display. Interior toys in the vRS Blackline extend to leather upholstery, a DAB radio, and an Amundsen satellite navigation system.
Mechanicals
Geared towards both private and fleet buyers, the SE Connect comes with a 1.6-litre turbodiesel engine developing 105hp. Fitted with a manual gearbox, the engine emits just 119g/km of CO2. The unit in the vRS Blackline however is a slightly sportier offering. The 2.0-litre TDI engine fitted to the Blackline develops 170hp, available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
Anything else?
Skoda is offering financial incentives for each of these already quite attractive limited editions. The SE Connect adds £1,680 worth of equipment to the standard SE at no extra cost. Furthermore, Skoda is offering 25 per cent off of the price of the limited edition, bringing the starting price down to £13,990 in hatchback guise. The vRS Blackline adds £1,900 in equipment over the standard vRS, again at no extra cost, with prices starting at £21,260. Only 2,000 SE Connect and 500 vRS Blackline editions are being made, with order books open now.
