What's the news?
The MINI Rocketman concept has been reworked and will be on display at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Exterior
Capitalising on the brand's British heritage the Rocketman uses the colours of the Union Flag. The body is dark blue with red and white detailing. Elements including the door mirror caps, parts of the 18-inch alloy wheels and the radiator grille surround. The centre of the grille and the diagonal element that runs across the front wings are finished in red. Under the transparent glass roof are horizontal and diagonal braces that recall the shape of the Union Jack. Painted porcelain white, the bars are illuminated at night by integrated optical fibres.
Interior
Mechanicals
There is no mention of what goes under the Rocketman's bonnet. The concept, like that of the original Geneva 2011 show car, is all about packaging and visual design.
Anything else?
No performance figures have been released but the original concept had claimed fuel economy of 94mpg.
