Parents of new drivers are concerned for their children's safety on the roads. A survey by Good Egg Safety has found that 78% of parents worry their child will be involved in an accident in the first year of driving.
The research also found nearly one in three parents think their offspring drive too fast; 10% worry about texting whilst driving; and a similar number are concerned that their child will drink or take drugs before driving.
One thousand parents were surveyed to accompany the launch of the Good Egg Guide for Parents of New Drivers. The guide has been produced for parents and aims to reduce the number of accidents involving young drivers.
Subjects covered in the guide include distraction, tiredness, and false confidence as well as more familiar drink and drug issues. These are all factors that young drivers need to avoid.
The guide has been endorsed by the Association of Chief Police Officers, Co-operative Insurance and Road Safety GB.
