The Vauxhall Zafira Tourer will cost from £21,000 to £28,465 when it goes on sale later this month, undercutting its key rival, the Ford S-Max, by more than £1,200. The new car will be offered in five trim levels - ES, Exclusiv, SRi, SE and Elite - with even the cheapest version coming with a generous specification of air conditioning, DAB radio, cruise control, six airbags, active headrests and a seven-speaker stereo.
Two new engines - a 138bhp 1.4 Turbo petrol and a 2.0 CDTi diesel (with three outputs, including a 119g/km ecoFLEX version) - join a 1.8-litre petrol unit to offer a spread of power options from 108- to 163bhp. Vauxhall says that stop-start will be available on certain petrol and diesel engines.
The Zafira Tourer uses an evolved version of the Flex7 seating system that is said to offer even greater levels of flexibility, innovation and comfort over the standard Zafira MPV. A host of driver-assist systems, including Traffic Sign Recognition, Side Blind Spot Alert and Advance Park Assist, will make a first appearance in the new model that is longer and wider than the regular Zafira and uses key components from the Insignia.
The current Zafira will continue to be sold alongside the new Zafira Tourer.
