Sebastian Vettel may well have just wrapped up the constructors' championship for his team Red Bull Racing - in addition to becoming the youngest ever double world champion - but he may not be getting things all his own way. Soon the pointy-fingered one will have to share his car with the general public. Well sort of.
Infiniti has announced that the FX Sebastian Vettel concept that debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show is to go into production. The car that was specially built for Vettel features a 5.0-litre V8 tuned to produce 414bhp and an aerodynamics package developed in collaboration with Red Bull Racing,. The 186mph crossover is said to be the most focused and exclusive sports crossover ever built - according to Infiniti anyway.
Details of the production version, including availability, volumes and prices, have yet to be confirmed, but as Andy Palmer, Infiniti Executive Vice President, points out: "Doing the FX Sebastian Vettel version for Frankfurt was fun, but it's also a kind of pilot. It's about our equivalent of (Mercedes-Benz) AMG or (BMW) M Cars. We wanted to test the organisation and see if it could cope with this type of special version. Sebastian's FX demonstrates we are able to do low volume specials and the FX Sebastian Vettel version is one of the first that will go to market."
