What is it?
A new Kia Rio, but with two less doors. The five-door model has gone down a storm so far - it isn't all that exciting to drive but it's a fine all-rounder in every other respect. The EcoDynamics diesel will be capable of 88.2mpg and 85g/km, too.
Why's it here?
The three-door Rio is likely to be a bigger seller in Europe than anywhere else in the world, so it makes sense to unveil it in Frankfurt. Kia reckons it could account for up to a quarter of all Rio sales across the globe.
Show stopper or floor filler?
More of a perusal piece for potential buyers, but still worth a look. The Rio in general is roomy, well built and a big step-up from its predecessor.
