Aston Martin Racing has today (24 August 2011) officially unveiled its 2012 GT3 racer. It can be yours for £298,000.
Based on the V12 Vantage, it gets a version of that car's 6.0-litre V12 engine, producing 600bhp and mounted further back in the aluminium composite chassis for better weight distribution.
A six-speed sequential transmission sends power to the rear wheels via a carbon fibre prop shaft, which is housed under a body that's clearly been drinking a lot of Red Bull.
As well as the enormous rear wing, the clearly Photoshopped images from Aston show an ultra- wide body kit, carbon front splitter and racing spec rear diffuser.
It's eligible for all kinds of racing, including the FIA GT3 Championship, the British GT and the Open GT; Aston says it is the only manufacturer to offer a race car for every class.
Testing for the Vantage GT3 starts in October, with first deliveries of the car in early 2012.
