It may be old enough to qualify for a bus pass, but the Toyota Land Cruiser doesn't look anywhere near ready to start letting others do the hard driving for it yet. To mark its 60th birthday, Toyota has released a film showing the go-anywhere machine from its first inception to the current model.
Like the Willys Jeep, the Toyota Land Cruiser was originally developed as a military 4x4. The Land Cruiser name was first applied to the early BJ model in 1955, four years after the car's introduction.
Successive developments and improvements have led to the current Land Cruiser, which retains a core off-road ability. To see the full family tree, watch the video.
