BMW has announced prices for the new, second generation, 1 Series. The range will start at £19,375 when it goes on sale in September.
For that price you get a 1.6-litre 'TwinPower' petrol engine with 136bhp. The 116i ES also comes with four airbags, 16-inch alloys, keyless start and a leather steering wheel. An extra £690 upgrades to SE specification, which adds a 6.5-inch screen and iDrive controller, Bluetooth and a multi-function steering wheel.
The Sport and Urban versions are identically priced and cost £1,240 more than a similarly powered SE. Differences between the two levels include the style of 17-inch alloy wheel. The Sport gets high-gloss black trim on the grille while the Urban gets a chrome grille with white slats. There are also differences in interior trim: gloss black for the Sport and acrylic glass in the Urban, while both versions get a sports steering wheel.
Prices for the 118i start at £21,985 for the SE - there is no ES option with 118 and 120 models whether petrol or diesel. The cheapest diesel model is the £21,195 116d ES. The most expensive variants are the 120d Sport and Urban, which both cost £24,720.
The first of the new 1 Series models will go on sale on September 17.
