The Fiat Panda has been updated with new, Euro 5 compliant engines across the range. As well as cleaner exhausts the units promise improved performance and economy.
Two engines are offered: a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel. Replacing the old 1.1-litre petrol engine the 1.2 develops 69bhp. Acceleration from 0-62mph is claimed to take 13.4 seconds with a top speed of 101mph. Combined cycle fuel economy is 57.6mpg with CO2 emissions of 113g/km. Diesel power cuts 0.3 seconds from the 0-62mph time and 4g/km from the CO2 figure. It also adds 2mph to the top speed and takes the fuel economy up to 67.3mpg.
Three trim levels are offered; the range starts with the entry-level Active, which offers power steering, electric front windows and airbags for driver and passenger. Mid-range MyLife Pandas add alloy wheels, remote central locking and a 12v power socket. The range-topping Dynamic gets roof bars, air conditioning and MP3 player among its standard equipment.
Prices normally start at £8,445 for the 1.2 Active, though that's currently available for £6,645. The Dynamic comes with the choice of petrol or diesel power with the latter costing £12,285.
