Toyota knows not to mess with a winning formula, but that hasn't stopped it giving the Hilux a nip and tuck.
The front of the latest Hilux is all-new to look at, with redesigned bonnet, grille, headlights and bumper. There are also new 15-inch alloy wheels and door mirrors. However, load capacity and towing ability remain unchanged and the Hilux is available in three body styles as ever: Single Cab, Double Cab and Extra Cab.
A new turbocharger ups the power of the 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine by 24- to 144bhp and increases torque to 253lb.ft at 2,000rpm. Fuel economy has been improved to 38.6mpg, while carbon dioxide emissions drop by 26- to 193g/km. The 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine remains on the pricelist.
On the inside, the new Hilux has a revised dashboard with Toyota's 'Touch' colour screen and multi-media display. Toyota also says it has improved the 'perceived quality'.
