Audi has released a full set of images of its new Q3 compact SUV, which is due to be officially launched at the Shanghai motor show next week.
A baby brother to the Audi Q5, the Q3 will reach UK showrooms in November with an expected staring price of around £25,000. This will place it above the Volkswagen Tiguan on which the Q3 is based, but below the Q5.
Entry point to the Q3 range will be a 168bhp 2.0-litre turbo petrol model that will come with front- or four-wheel drive as an option. The other petrol version will be powered by a 208bhp 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, again with front- or four-wheel drive.
Diesel engines are expected to be the most popular choices in the UK and are covered by a 175bhp 2.0-litre from launch, followed by a new 138bhp turbodiesel early in 2012. This engine will offer 54.2mpg average economy.
Six-speed manual gearboxes will be standard with most of the Q3's engines, but top spec models will come with Audi's seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmissions.
The interior of the new Audi Q3 mixes the style of the A4 and A1 models, and it will offer similar space and load capacity to the Tiguan. With the rear seats folded, the Q3 can carry 1,365 litres of luggage.
Audi will begin sales of the Q3 in the UK in November and the car will be built in Spain in SEAT's Martorell factory.
