Debuting at the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship is the latest racing evolution of Porsche's road car developments, the 911 GT3 Cup race car.
The 911 GT3 Cup race car is designed by the same team responsible for the highly accomplished Porsche 911 GT3 and RS road cars.
Porsche says that the latest 911 GT3 Cup racer is based for the first time on the RS road car. Powered by the same flat-six 3.8-litre boxer engine, the Cup car delivers an identical 450bhp developed at 8,500rpm. Compared to the road going version, the racer is 170kg lighter, thus improving acceleration and enhancing the handling.
The exterior aesthetics of the new 911 GT3 Cup clearly demonstrate its road car origins, while the flared front and rear wheel arches and huge wheels show it means business on the track. The striking LED daytime running lights come directly from the current 911 range and the front body panels mimic the
911 GT3 RS'. The rear bumper with its distinctive air vent and LED rear lights also come straight from the GT3 RS road car.
The new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will cost £94,600 plus VAT and deliveries are expected to begin in early 2011.
