Infiniti has announced the first car in its new 'speciality performance vehicle collection': the Infiniti Performance Line - or IPL. The first model to arrive is a version of the company's G Coupé, which will be unveiled at the 60th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this weekend. Along with modifications to improve performance the upgrade includes suspension and cosmetic changes.
For the G Coupé these updates include a free-flowing exhaust and recalibrated engine management, together liberating an extra 18bhp - taking the total power to 348bhp. There are stiffer springs with recalibrated dampers, 'sport-tuned' steering and a viscous limited-slip differential to help get the power to the road. Visual changes include new bumpers, side skirts and 19-inch, seven-spoke IPL wheels.
The Infiniti Performance Line G Coupé will go on sale in North America in December. Whether the range will be offered in other markets is officially 'under evaluation'; however some sources say that the models are unlikely to make it to Europe.
