Infiniti has added a much-needed turbodiesel engine to its large SUV, the FX. The 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel comes with 235bhp and will cost from £45,150 when the first cars reach customers in July.
Packing 406lb.ft of torque, the V6 turbodiesel returns combined economy of 31.4mpg and lowers emissions in the full-size FX off-roader to 238g/km. The V6 diesel's power helps the FX get from 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds and uses a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
As with the 3.7-litre V6-engined petrol model, the 3.0 turbodiesel FX will be offered in four trim levels. They start with the FX 30d GT that includes a rear-view camera and parking sensors, glass sunroof and 20-inch alloy wheels, as well as the four-wheel drive fitted to all FX models.
Move up to the S version for a sportier feel and you get sports front seats, automatic damper control, Rear Active Steering and 21-inch alloy wheels. Both the GT and S models are also available in Premium trims, which further ups the luxury count with Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Brake Assist and Forward Collision Warning. The diesel-powered FX is the only model in the range to also come with Lane Departure Prevention, which warns the driver if the car is wandering over lane markings.
Customers can order the FX 30d now, with deliveries starting in July.
