Kia has announced the latest incarnation of the 'Tiger' design platform, called the Magentis is due to be unveiled at next month's New York International Auto Show. Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer stated that; "The next generation of Magentis possesses the power to surprise...It's a car that people will simply not expect from Kia - and that's exactly what we set out to achieve."
The new Magentis is longer, lower and wider than the previous model, further enhancements to the exterior include a coupé-like profile, flared wheelarches and a raked roofline. Kia claims that the saloon offers a spacious cabin, along with high levels of safety and luxury equipment.
The exterior design for the Magentis was conceived in Frankfurt, while the interior was developed by a design team in California. Kia reckons the ethos behind the new Magentis was to create a car with "European feeling and stance."
The Kia Magentis won't hit showrooms until 2011 and prices are yet to be confirmed.
