The 918 Spyder is Porsche's idea of what a plug-in hybrid should be like. It has 500bhp, does 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds and 198mph, and it'll lap the Nürburgring in less than 7 minutes 30 seconds. All this and it will return 94.0mpg and emit only 70g/km of CO2. It's amazing.
Why's it here?
The 918 Spyder has a 3.4-litre V8 engine and twin electric motors so it can be rear- or four-wheel drive. It can also travel for 15 miles on battery power alone. Try that in your Ferrari 599 Hybrid Concept...
Show stopper or floor filler?
There's only one answer to this: show stopper. The 918 Spyder could well be the star of this Geneva show as it's a stunning car in its own right but is also the car we will point to in the future as the marker for where Porsche truly laid the foundations of the environmentally responsible supercar.
