Nissan will launch a refreshed Navara and Pathfinder at the
Geneva Motor Show. There is a new V6 diesel engine and an updated 2.5 dCi motor. More equipment, including the option of Connect Premium satellite navigation and entertainment, also features.
The 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel has been developed by the Renault Nissan Alliance drawing on technology from the group's smaller diesel engines. It uses a single turbocharger, located in the centre of the 'V', and the latest Bosch common-rail injection. Peak power is 228bhp and there is 369lb.ft of torque from 1,700- to 2,500rpm. It meets the latest Euro 5 emissions regulations.
The four-cylinder, 2.5-litre dCi unit has received an eleven percent increase in power and torque (now 187bhp and 332lb.ft). The boost does not come with a penalty in fuel consumption; 33.2mpg on the combined cycle represents a 4.4mpg improvement over the old version. Carbon dioxide emissions are 224g/km.
Updated Navaras and Pathfinders get a number of cosmetic changes including new bonnet, grille and front bumper. A new 18-inch alloy wheel design is available too. Six-cylinder models get a V6 badge on the leading edge of the front doors.
New switchgear, seat fabric and revised door trims are intended to improve the interior quality. There are also sensible touches such as storage bins large enough to accommodate an A3 map book. Extra equipment includes a speed limiter incorporated within the cruise control and the rear-view camera, already available in the Pathfinder, is now offered on the Navara. The optional Nissan Connect Premium navigation, communication and entertainment system now includes coverage of Russia, Turkey and Eastern Europe.
Updated four-cylinder Navara and Pathfinder models will go on sale in April. The 3.0-litre versions are scheduled to arrive in June.
