Nissan has announced that it will mark the 40th anniversary of the Z car by producing a special low-volume version of the 370Z. The Black Edition will be limited to a production run of 370 European units and will only be available as a coupé.
This variant of the 370Z will be identifiable by styling tweaks including two bespoke paint shades (metallic black and quartz), a red leather and suede interior, red brake callipers and 40th anniversary emblems on both the back door and seat stitching. The driver will also have access to Nissan's updated 'Connect Premium' touch-screen satellite navigation system with USB connectivity, DVD capabilities and a hard-drive with 9.3GB of memory.
Mechanically, the Black Edition is the same as its more plentiful brother. This means the same 3.7-litre V6 engine, which churns out 324bhp and sees 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds (5.6 with an automatic gearbox). The engine's power is fed through the rear wheels.
Vincent Wijnen, Nissan's European Vice President for Marketing, said: "The 'story of Z' is full of positives, with success not just in the sales charts all over the world but on racetracks and at award ceremonies, too. The 370Z Black Edition is a fitting tribute to a great car".
Those interested in owning the Black Edition 370Z can order from all Nissan High Performance Centres and throughout the Nissan dealer network. In terms of prices, the manual model starts at £33,645 and the automatic at £35,045. These prices include the £750 showroom tax that comes into effect on 1 April. And that's no joke...
