Mitsubishi's Qashqai rival will be called the RVR in Japan and will come to Europe in Summer 2010. You're staring at the first couple of pictures of the car in production form, and it doesn't look too different to the
Concept-cX on which it's based, which debuted at
Frankfurt 2007.
Japan will get the car next Spring powered by a 1.8-litre MIVEC petrol engine. Although Mitsubishi is providing scant details at present, we know that the five-door is 4.3 metres long - putting it squarely in Nissan Qashqai territory - and that it's relatively lightweight.
Based on
Lancer underpinnings, there's bound to be a diesel option, and it's likely there'll be a four-wheel drive version despite the majority of sales going to front-drivers. We expect to see the new Mitsubishi crossover at the
2010 Geneva Motor Show. No doubt there'll be more info shortly, so we'll spill it as soon as we know.
