Just in case the launch of a brand new model isn't enough for the ungrateful punters at the Bentley stand in
Frankfurt, the maker will show the first of seven styling exercises based on the Continental, called Series 51.
The idea is to give customers the chance to buy something bespoke from the showroom floor (a bit of a contradiction, you'll agree). In other words, something a little more creative for those who can't be bothered with doing the creativity bit themselves.
Frankfurt will see the first Series 51 car, although the order book is open now. The name comes from the year that John Blatchley opened up Bentley's styling department
The Continental GTC Series 51 due to hit Frankfurt has an Imperial Blue and Newmarket Tan hide interior (that's navy and brown leather to you and I), and something called Amboyna for the dash. It sits on 21-inch polished black alloys, with 'Series 51' badges on the wings. Customers will also be able to specify two-tone paintjobs for their cars, with one colour for the roof, bonnet and boot and another for the sides. No word on price yet, but it qualifies for scrappage so take your old Citroen AX along and you'll essentially get some free floor mats...
