Hyundai has announced UK pricing for its i20 supermini. The new model starts at £8,195 and all versions include six airbags and air conditioning. The range consists of three- and five-door versions with the latter going on sale in January 2009.
Three trim levels and four engines are offered. The range starts with the £8,195 three-door Classic with a 1.2-litre engine. The mid-range i20 Comfort is offered with the 1.2-litre engine and a choice of 1.4-litre petrol or 74bhp diesel power. The three-door i20 1.4 Comfort costs £9,495. Classic and Comfort models are available as either three- or five-door models, with the extra doors carrying a £450 premium. An automatic transmission is only offered on the five-door Comfort and adds £900 to the price. The top-specification Style is not sold with three doors and costs either £10,845 with the 1.4-litre petrol engine or £11,845 for an 89bhp turbodiesel.
Key figures for the engine range include carbon dioxide emissions of 116g/km for the 74bhp, 1.4-litre CRDi diesel engine, while the more powerful CRDi unit produces just 2.0g/km more. As a result both CRDi i20s fall into VED band B. Combined cycle fuel consumption figures for the turbodiesels are 64.2mpg and 62.8mpg for the more powerful version. The petrol engines use a little more fuel: 50.4mpg for the 1.4- and 54.3mpg for the 1.2-litre unit. Emissions figures are 133- and 124g/km respectively. Power outputs are 99bhp and 77bhp for the 1.4- and 1.2-litre engines.
All i20s come with air conditioning, six airbags and active head restraints as standard, as well as the standard Hyundai five-year warranty. The Comfort adds 15-inch alloy wheels, body coloured door mirrors and all-round electric windows - instead of just the front electric windows of the Classic. Sixteen-inch alloys distinguish the i20 Style, which also receives front fog lamps, climate control and part leather trim.
The five-door models will go on sale on 15th January with the three-door variants joining the range in April.
