The
British International Motor Show will mark the UK debut of two new Toyotas: the iQ and the Urban Cruiser. Another premiere will be the
Aygo Crazy concept car - making its first motor show appearance.
The Toyota iQ is packaged to maximise passenger room in a small car. Less than three metres long, there is room inside for three adults and a child. Toyota describes the iQ as a compact premium car suggesting it will be more upmarket than the
Aygo.
Toyota's other new model is the Yaris-based Urban Cruiser. Smaller than
the RAV4 the Urban Cruiser attempts to combine the economy of a small hatchback with the style of an off-road vehicle. Both the iQ and Urban Cruiser will go on sale in 2009; prices and specifications will be announced later.
The whole Toyota range will be represented at the show including the newest model, the Hilux Invincible 200. This is a 194bhp version of Toyota's pick-up with a special radiator grille, metallic black paint, metallic-finish alloy wheels and two-tone leather interior to distinguish the Invincible from the standard Hilux.
Finally, making its first appearance at a motor show, the Aygo Crazy is a 'baby supercar' inside a modified Aygo body. This concept car was designed, engineered and built in Britain and will appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as well.
Motor Show visitors will find the Toyota stand at N15 in the North Stand at ExCeL in London. The British Motor Show runs from 23rd July to 3rd August.
