| Model update | 2008 Mercedes-Benz G 55 AMG |
It's the most unlikely performance car in the world, but the Mercedes G 55 AMG just won't go away, so Mercedes has instead given it a touch-up for 2008. Changes to the fastest brick on the planet include a restyled radiator grille and new 19-inch alloy wheels.
There are also some tweaks to the interior, but the biggest changes are to the engine, which has crept up from 500- to 507bhp. The supercharged 5.5-litre V8 now powers the G 55 from 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 131mph.
A new electronic stability control system helps with high speed cornering, while Hill-Start has been added for those daft enough to take their G 55 off-road.
Sales of the updated G 55 begin in September and the car is only available in five-door format. The price in Germany is 121,618 Euros and the car will not be officially imported to the UK.
