Billed as the safest, 'most stunning' Volvo ever, Volvo Cars UK has revealed initial pricing information for the new XC60. Packed with award winning safety features, prices for the sharp-looking crossover vehicle start at £24,750.
Potential customers can check out Volvo's compact SUV this summer at events all over the country. The XC60's British debut will be the 2008 Canary Warf MotorExpo in London next week, while the Volvo will reach UK dealers in October with customer deliveries commencing in November.
Volvo is offering the XC60 with three engines: two 2.4-litre turbodiesels, in 161bhp or 182bhp forms, and a 3.0-litre 281bhp turbocharged petrol engine. You can't have petrol power with the base S trim level, but the SE and SE Lux models can be specified with all three units.
Don't mistake entry level trim for basic: even the cheapest XC60 will be comprehensively kitted out. Standard equipment includes the City Safe collision avoidance system and Roll Stability Control. Other items of note are climate control, alloy wheels and a 'performance sound audio system', which includes a CD player and auxiliary input for MP3 player connectivity.
If you want to see the XC60 early, MotorExpo runs from 9th to 15th June. The new SUV will also be served up alongside modern Swedish cuisine at three Taste festivals this summer in London (19-22 June), Bath (3-6 July) and Birmingham (10-13 July). Volvo will additionally display the XC60 at the Round the Island sailing race on the Isle of Wight from 27th to 29th June. Those who prefer country pursuits will find Volvo at the CLA Game Fair from 27-29 July at Blenheim palace.
Volvo will announce full XC60 specifications and prices in July.
