| Limited edition model | Vauxhall Astra VXR Nurburgring Edition |
Vauxhall has roped in its British Touring Car Championship team to help develop the Nurburgring Edition of the Astra VXR. Producing 15bhp more than the standard VXR, the car takes its name from the German race track where much of its development work was undertaken.
Every VXR Nurburgring Edition is individually numbered and comes in any colour you like so long as it's white. It also has unique 18in alloy wheels wrapped in specially developed Dunlop tyres.
Vauxhall has also fitted out the VXR with dark tinted windows, carbon fibre trim on the door pillars and some chequered flag stickers to help it stand out further from other hot hatches.
The VXR is said to be mechanically similar to the standard Astra VXR, but it has 15bhp more thanks to a Remus sports exhaust developed by Vauxhall's BTCC team, Tripe-Eight Race Engineering. That sees the Nurburgring Edition go from 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds and head on to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Lowered suspension is a Nurburgring Edition feature, along with wider front and rear tracks for greater stability in corners.
Inside, the VXR Nurburgring Edition has carbon fibre trim on the doors and dash, while the leather seats have the Nurburgring circuit graphic embossed into them. Each car has a numbered plaque to show its build number. Prices start at £21,295 and the Astra VXR Nurburgring Edition is on sale now.
