| Special Edition Model | Lotus Exige Sprint |
Lotus is no stranger to special edition models, but we were a little miffed when right-hand drive markets were denied the
Elise S 40th Anniversary Limited Edition. Lotus has made amends by releasing the Exige Sprint to commemorate 40 years of production at its Hethel hideaway in Norfolk.
Naturally there will be just 40 examples sold throughout Britain and Ireland, in a distinctive two-tone livery - first seen on the 1971 Lotus Elan Sprint - featuring a white lower half and a choice of Solar Yellow or Persian Blue for the upper half of the bodywork - the two colours separated by a gold stripe with 'Exige Sprint' emblazoned on the doors.
Buyers won't just own a uniquely-painted model either, as the Sprint comes with lightweight forged alloy wheels, air conditioning and all three Sport, Touring and Performance Packs, along with bespoke interior detailing. To spec up a regular Exige S to this level would result in a purchase price of £44,050, but the Exige Sprint comes in at £42,550, so it shouldn't be too difficult for Lotus to find 40 customers that are willing to justify the extravagance to themselves...
