| Special Edition | Vauxhall Astra VXR Nurburgring Edition |
All those hours spent pounding around Germany's Nurburgring developing the Astra VXR have affected Vauxhall's mind. Not content with the standard VXR, the engineers have come up with the Nurburgring Edition.
To mark this VXR special edition out from the standard car, it only comes in white and has dark tinted windows, carbon-fibre effect mirrors and chequered flag decals. More relevant to the car's performance are the unique 18-inch alloy wheels shod with bespoke Dunlop tyres, and the Remus sports exhaust developed by Vauxhall's BTCC race team.
Leather Recaro sports seats with a Nurburgring logo are standard fit on the inside and there's carbon-fibre trim on the doors and dash. Each car comes with an individually numbered plaque showing its build number
Like the
standard Astra VXR, there's a six-speed manual gearbox and 237bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. It sees the VXR Nurburgring from 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds and tops out at an electronically limited 155mph.
The Astra VXR Nurburgring may not be any faster than the normal version of Vauxhall's hot hatch, but the £20,995 price works out cheaper than fitting leather and a sports exhaust to a standard VXR as options.
