| Price Announcement | Fiat 500 |
Fiat has set the entry level price of the 500 at just £7,900, making it considerably cheaper than its closest rivals. The
MINI, regarded as the 500's nearest competitor, starts at £13,025, while the basic
Renault Twingo is £8,375.
There are to be three trim specifications: Pop, Sport and Lounge. The kit provided with the entry-level Pop includes power steering, electric mirrors, a CD/MP3 player, as well as driver, passenger, side and knee airbags. Upgrading to either Sport or Lounge means that air conditioning, 15-inch alloy wheels and a Bluetooth phone system are also included.
Fiat is going to be providing a choice of three engines: 69bhp 1.2-litre and 100bhp 1.4-litre petrol engines and a 1.3-litre 75bhp turbodiesel engine.
The pricing structure is based on the standard 1.2-litre Pop model. From there, for £1,400, you can upgrade to a bigger engine, add the Sport or Lounge trim for £1,400, or add a combination of both for £2,800.
With a huge range of options to choose from though, it is unlikely that it will remain that simple with there being many opportunities for customers to personalise both the interior and exterior of the little car.
