Peugeot has Sport-ified the baby of its range, the 107. And we don't mean 'sportified' - we mean Sportified. So the 107 Sport XS has no more urge from its rather wheezy three-cylinder engine, but it does have alloys, a rev counter, a spoiler under the front bumper, 'sporty' stripes and a twin exhaust.
Inside, the Peugeot's neat, but somewhat tinny interior is brightened up by leather on the steering wheel and gearlever - all in red.
A not insubstantial 14.2 seconds is still needed to reach 62mph, and 68 is still the magic number for the 107, being its fuel economy in mpg and its power in bhp.
But the tweaks - including Laser Red, Diamond White, Raven Black or Zircon Grey paint colours - don't come cheap. The Sport XS is £8,345 on the road, as against £7,445 for the Urban trim it is based on.
At £900 for some red leather, 14-inch alloys, twin exhausts and new colours, Peugeot must be hoping we have forgotten the enormously unsporting
1007 Sport. From the company that gave us the 106 GTi and Rallye, it's all a little bit sad for the enthusiast. The car will be on sale from next month, though thankfully it will soon be overshadowed by the new Peugeot 207 GTi.
