What's all this about?
Hot on the heels of the new Audi A4 Avant's launch in the latter part of 2015, the German brand has now confirmed there will be an allroad quattro version of the executive estate.
Does this follow a familiar pattern to such soft-roading wagons?
If by that, you mean a higher ride height and some body cladding, then the answer's 'yes'. The allroad sits 34mm higher than a regular Avant and, er... has some body cladding. Around the bottom of the car. Ahem. Engines up to the same 272hp range-topper as found in the regular estate are available and there will be specific settings in the car's drive profiles to allow it to tackle lightly muddy tracks. Expect it to go on sale in late summer in Europe.
Erm... are they vertical slats in the allroad's front grille?
Yes. Yes, they are. Well spotted. That's another allroad identifier, should you not clock all that black plastic on the exterior for some reason.
